Year 2

Learning

At John Rankin, children are at the heart of everything we do.

In order to develop as independent, life-long learners, we passionately believe that children deserve to experience high-quality learning experiences every day.

In year 2, we offer a broad and balanced education that not only meets the requirements of the National Curriculum but goes beyond to offer enriching experiences, particularly in the outdoor environment, that deepen children’s understanding of the world around them.

Our curriculum is diverse, encompassing a wide range of subjects including English, Science, Mathematics, Art, Music and Physical Education. Throughout Year 2, children will get the chance to be a designer, an artist, a writer, a scientist, a musician, a historian and anything else they can imagine.

Transition to Year 3

We recognise the importance of a smooth and well-supported transition for our Year 2 children as they move into Year 3. This is an important step in their learning journey, and we are committed to ensuring that all pupils feel confident, supported, and well prepared for the expectations of the next academic year.

We would like to thank the families who attended our Year 2 Transition Information Evening. Your time, engagement, and continued support are greatly appreciated. For those who were unable to attend, or who would like to revisit the information shared, the PowerPoint slides from the evening are available here for your reference.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
