Physical Education

Learning / Our Curriculum

Our high-quality Physical Education curriculum inspires all pupils, including those with additional needs, to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities.

Our high-quality Physical Education curriculum inspires all pupils, including those with additional needs, to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It provides opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness.

Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect. We take part in  numerous sports, listed below and regularly compete against local schools in a range of sports. We are lucky to draw on expertise of outside coaches to enhance provision and work closely with a local secondary school, St Bartholomew’s, to help develop leadership amongst their Year 10 and Y11 pupils, many of whom are JRS alumni.

Through our teaching, we aim to ignite a love of learning about Physical Education that will see our pupils through to secondary school and hopefully beyond!

At JRS we are always pleased to see our alumni students return as St Bart’s Sports Leaders, Y10 and Y11 students visit us throughout the year and gain experience leading activities.
