At JRS, our high-quality art and design education engages, inspires and challenges all of our pupils - including those with additional needs.
At John Rankin Schools, we believe art offers our children a chance to discover limitless creativity. Through exposure to a range of artists, genres and mediums, we provide an opportunity for all to be immersed in design that is shaping and reflecting our school values and the wider culture and community.
Our aim is for all children to use art as a self-expression, in which they can take risks, experiment and grow in confidence. We will equip them with the reflective and analytical skills needed to develop informed opinions on both their own and others’ work.
All children will be provided with numerous opportunities to take ownership of their creativity and foster their own creative techniques.
Artists studied at JRS include Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Peter Thorpe, and Kehinde Wiley amongst others.
